Is iVoyeur Bringing Sexting to a Whole New Level?

“Talk Dirty to Me…” – Poison

I like to think I’m an adventurous adult at times.  I enjoy exotic cuisine and traveling to unknown lands, sure.  But I have to admit that as versed and emerged in emerging media as I am, nothing prepared me for what came through my InBox the other day.

I began following a pop culture phenomenon that has since become dear to my heart.  Urban Daddy is an online domain and newsletter that brings together all the finest things in life as written in the style for Vanity Fair, Esquire, Vogue and GQ.  I receive an email about once every other day with funny Subject Lines such as the following:

- ‘Kimonos, Michael Jackson and the Super Bowl (of Dallas Roller Derby)’
- ‘$2 Margaritas, Selvage Denim and Nitrogen Bombs’
- ‘Lions, Caviar and Monica Bellucci’

For this reason alone, I have an archive folder full of every single email I’ve ever received from UD.  I always smile when the daily shout out gets delivered but on November 23rd, I received an extra exciting email that required further investigation and blogging.  Have you heard of a site called iVoyeur.com?  Well get ready for this…

Communication and courting rituals have always gone hand in hand when you found that special someone; but today in the 21st century when emerging media brings a whole new set of dating nuances to the age old game of love, a person can’t help but to wonder… is sexting in a consenting adult relationship okay?  Can you get a little naughty while you video chat?  Etc.

The fun loving folks (or should I say bon vivants) at iVoyeur.com – a a New York City-based lifestyle brand and high-end web destination catering to sexually adventurous adults – say why not and then some.  Facebook Groups, MySpace clubs move over, because this social networking site is bringing it on to the New Media world.  No pun intended.

I have to give credit where credit is due because their ‘About Us’ section from their website is quite impressive:

Our site is a social networking tool for discerning swinger couples and curious sensualists to discreetly communicate with like-minded people in the Lifestyle. Planning a steamy romp couldn’t be easier—or more hush-hush—with iVoyeur where users can secretly explore, keep tabs on their favorite members or initiate liaisons with sexy new people. With discretion and privacy being a top priority, iVoyeur provides a safe and concealed environment where users can engage freely and let their fantasies run wild.

In conjunction with the social networking aspect of the site, iVoyeur also offers thoughtful yet provocative articles about sex, travel, wine, and culture written by a handful of dynamic journalists and popular erotic entertainers. And it doesn’t stop there—iVoyeur hosts and sponsors delightfully decadent lifestyle events nationwide, in addition to exciting contests and promotions. With iVoyeur, your lifestyle just got hotter.

I had to read this section at least 3 times because in all honesty, does it not sound like a slightly wild, 2 year relationship rolled into one, free loving, continuous online roll in the hay?  My friends, I am afraid to say that the days of cruising over to the Malt Shop and grabbing a Cherry Coke with your main squeeze are OVER.  Bygone and no more are the Friday Football Game Dates and Sock Hops.  For those 18 and older, an amusing if not amorous reality called iVoyeur is bringing sexting to a whole new level.

Are You Reading All the News That’s Fit to Rev Your Engine?

Then you have not checked out the awesomeness that is Twitter.com/SocialCarNews. While I do love the genius author Manovich and his profound insight towards communication theories however he falls short and fails to mention the evolutionary shift which links one’s Facebook status update to their car’s OnStar Assistance service.  A Social Media/Auto Enthusiast he is not.

There are about as many reasons as to why I love @SocialCarNews as there are topics that I’d like to cover in this blog every week.  I am a Sagittarius, somewhat (very) long winded, and I have a lot I want to talk about— accordingly I would out sing Justin Bieber if it meant an extreme declaration to showering my beloved Social Media/Zippy Car News hub with affection… but I don’t believe that’s necessary.

I wanted to feature @SocialCarNews as a post this week because not only are they filled with top running social media news stories that are effecting how and what we drive every day.  More importantly, they are going above and beyond to exhibit what social media community programs should constantly reflect: an interactive and engaging dialogue chock full of creative content and participating people.

Two particular stories I wanted to share with my fellow #emac6300 homies caught my attention the other day and I have been thinking about them in the vein of our classroom discussions:

- Honda Launches Stunning Brochure For The CR-Z On iPhone, iPad: Is This How The Web Ends?
Did Honda make the right choice using this strategy?
Does this reflect remediation?
Is adverting this product in this way appropriate for the platform selected?

How will the new Twitter Affect Automotive Social Media?
Is this a context, which showcases how a machine continues on unrelentingly, surpassing all expectations?

So now that everyone knows I’m secretly a hot-rod lovin’/tech geek/emerging media scholar who looks nothing like Megan Fox from Transformers 1 or 2, I can share honestly how much I enjoy checking out this site.  The platform and content feed also keeps me on my toes because as car brands continue to ride the new media wave, transportation is changing everywhere we go.

Rihana says, “Shut up and Drive…”
I say, “Shut up, Check out SocialCarNews.com and rev your ‘Social Media’ engine.”

Harvard Would Make Taking Oaths UberCool…

Hi there. Whether you read this in 2 hours or 2 years, I’m going to pull a George Washington and cite the day/month/date/year/and time of this blog post. It’s kind of special.

For the first time EVER I, Amanda Crawford Montgomery, University of Texas-Dallas EMAC graduate student and Social Media Specialist at Social Media Delivered, LLC am starting my personal blog. Rest assured I’ll have at least 15 blogs (thanks to Professor Kim Knight who made this part of her Introduction to Emerging Media and Communications Class), but my hope is to make it last indefinitely. Thanks for reading and I look forward to your thoughts. Today is Tuesday August 31st 2010, 5:27pm.

I am a Sagittarius. The Sagittarian’s tragic flaw is that they are long-winded. So the first thing I am going to avoid on this blog is my natural tendency to be long-winded with the exception of the above introduction paragraph. That had to be there or else you wouldn’t know a darn thing about me. I’m in a unique and quite remarkable position because I’m very fortunate that my graduate work studying emerging/social/and new media happens to be mirroring and feeding back into my professional career and the career is feeding back into the classroom. So this blog is literally about livin’ la vida new media because that’s what I do every day. My life is about living and new media; most of the time anyway—

While I try not to take myself, or anything too seriously, I do take certain things incredibly seriously. I value being a good citizen, hard work, dedication, and education. And it’s a shame that business, and more specifically the emerging media field, in its history and event more so presently have taken a bit of a hit regarding all those areas. But Sagittarians are also relentlessly optimistic – thank god for that redeeming quality.

I wouldn’t trade my job as a Social Media Specialist or going to UTD for my MA in Emerging Media and Communications for anything in the world. But leave it to Harvard to making ‘Taking Oath’ uber cool. Harvard’s MBA program does one small thing differently that my school does not…
They encourage graduating MBA students to take a sort of a Hippocratic Oath, pledging adherence to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect throughout the rest of their lives professionally and personally. Whoa.

What better way to start a blog focused around living a life inundated with emerging media but imploded with criticism and disregard for its credibility other than by applauding fellow academics who took a stand to do something right with their professional/educational aspirations and go beyond the call of duty. By the way, if you’re looking for the social media connection, check out how they’re promoting it:
- Twitter.Com/MBAOath
- Facebook.com/MBAOath
- MBAOath Blog
- Local Campus Chapter

So here’s to the founders of the MBA Oath! I admire them for leading by example and for hopefully planting the viral seeds amongst generations to come who will hopefully spread the message about how it’s essential that we all strive to reach a higher calling, serve others before ourselves, and help make the world better.

I’m thinking about writing a personal Oath for myself similar to the MBA Oath to recite at my graduation. Maybe I’ll even create an Oath that will become inherent in the communications industry and be adapted by my fellow academics and colleagues? When you decide to live life for new media, music, art, politics, education or all the above – wouldn’t the world be better if we all took an ethical Oath which confirmed we would uphold a standard in our industry and then acted accordingly?
